We used a 40-year-old foldable wooden Klepper kayak that we paddled and carried along the 1,300km journey. During our 33 day adventure we sank in rapids, were attacked by hippos and arrested by Angolan security forces, who threatened us with deportation. Thankfully, we were able to safely complete the expedition, and raised over USD25,000 for The HALO Trust, an organization specializing in the removal of the debris of war, such as landmines. The expedition was also recognised as a world record by Guinness World Records.
