What will change on the KLEPPER boats in the future?

The world famous Aerius Classic model will not change for the time being, as our customers are still extremely satisfied with this model. It’s already built with the state of the art material but in the future we will be improving comfort and convenience of use.

AERIUS Classic:
The Classic model is not expensive! This model is produced in 2 colours (blue and red) in series. Special requests for equipment can therefore not be considered. Also keel stiffeners are not available ex works! The bow fitting was changed. Of course the boat has carrying toggles fore and aft as well as the lifeline. The boats have the grey hypalon skin and the proven special impregnated cotton canopy fabric, as well as the Expedition and Quattro models. Naturally this Classic is also sailable.

There are two types of sails.

1. The drive sail can be used on all KLEPPER-AERIUS folding boats. It provides a comfortable way of getting around. The drive sail can be used in aft winds, i.e. the wind comes from behind, or in free winds, i.e. the wind comes from the side.

2. The full sails:

S 1 Sailing: This is recommended for the One, but is also possible for the Aerius II. The S 1 has approx. 2.5 m² sail area.

S 2 Sail for the two of you, which has a larger area (approx. 4.5 m² with jib). S1 and S 2 can be used up to wind force 3 - 4 In any case the wave height has to be considered.

Sailing, however, depends on the skill of the sailor. Beginners should only start with smaller wind forces and with a smaller sail to get a feeling for the sailing style. It is essential to use leeboards to minimize drifting.

The following accessories are available for the sails: riding beam, hand tiller, sail seat and compass.

CAN I PADDLE AND SAIL ALONE WITH A 2-SEATER?

Of course! The standard single driving seat position allows you to sit in such a way that your boat is optimally trimmed on the one hand and that you can keep your balance and find the optimal position for legs and back without any problems. Big people even prefer this boat to the one for single use.

You can buy your Klepper folding boat at authorized Klepper dealers or at the Klepper Shop. Please order a catalogue, price list and a dealer list. The authorized dealer has various models in stock. If you have special wishes concerning colour and equipment, you have to factor in approx. 6 weeks delivery time, because the boats are individually handmade. For individual boat hides the delivery time is also approx. 6 weeks. However, spare parts and accessories can be delivered at short notice.

Which boat skin should you choose for which model?
The coating of the black boat skin consists of a mixture
Rubber and HYPALON and has been used for many years for military operations and demanding expeditions, not least because of its dark colour.
The coating of the grey boat skin consists of the rubber mixture, rubber and CSM, which has been tried and tested for decades. It is known for its high serviceability and durability. In both variants the
highly reliable carrier fabric TREVIRA which high-strength is used as a reinforcement, thus ensuring the robustness of the KLEPPER boat skin.
The KLEPPER boat skin is produced on modern calenders in Germany under the strict quality regulations of ISO 9000.

CAN A NEW TOP BE SEWN ONTO AN OLD HULL OR VICE VERSA?
UMGEKEHRT?
First you have to check the condition of the submarine is, and ask yourself whether it is still worthwhile to invest in a new top. Secondly you have to check whether it is really a KLEPPER folding boat. This can be determined by the KLEPPER specialist dealer on site.

Aerius II, (Quattro + Expedition + Classic)

  •  Spread the skin lengthwise and remove any water or sand etc. with a sponge. (Salt water must be rinsed out thoroughly). Dry out the fore and aft boat area completely, and place a frame (preferably frame 2 and/or frame 6) under the canopy to ensure good, rapid ventilation.
  • Lie the newly cleaned inside dried boat skin lengthwise so that the top is completely visible. From the middle of the boat (whether port or starboard), turn one side so far towards the middle of the transept that the rubberised skin is visible for about 20 cm. Then fold in the opposite side also towards the middle of the boat so that the 25 cm wide keel strip is just not yet visible - i.e. remains below.
  • Align the entire boat skin (especially the canopy) again without kinks.
  • From the stem turn the boat skin now to the middle, so that the

If you are a skilled craftsman, you can exchange the fittings yourself.
To do this, it is necessary to drill out and remove the rivets from the old fittings, insert the new rivets and thus install the new fitting.

The fittings are made of high-quality hardened and anodised aluminium (saltwater resistant). They are produced exclusively for KLEPPER folding boats.

The Klepper service includes all AERIUS models built since 1951. The spare parts can be ordered from your local dealer or directly in Rosenheim. All scaffolding parts can be re-ordered individually. The same applies to the boat skin. Klepper offers its customers not only top quality but also the corresponding spare parts and excellent service. Due to a fire in 1995 we only have a few, if any, old fittings (older than 15 years) in stock as we as all old documents and spare parts of old models etc. were destroyed.

Spare parts for other models are no longer available as the remaining stocks were destroyed in the fire in 1995.

The KLEPPER folding boat consists of a set of wooden frame parts, which are
connected by patented snap locks The assembly is quick and easy, without tools. The two halves of the scaffolding are first assembled and then inserted into the boat skin. Then the two halves are connected and the air hoses are inflated either by mouth or a pump. Your KLEPPER folding boat is now ready for new adventures.

If you want to be seen and love pure colours then you should choose red. If you don't want to attract attention at all costs, choose the classic blue or mint green. If you even need camouflage, e.g. for nature shots of shy animals, olive or black is your colour.

Why is only wood used for the framework?

A publisher of a canoe magazine once said: "If wood had been invented today, it would be considered the most magical material of all time". Especially the quality wood we work with today (American white ash). It is the ideal material for the frame of a folding canoe. It is very strong, extremely resistant to stress and external environmental influences. It is also the material that is easiest to repair in the field. The spare parts are wear-resistant, durable and not expensive.

Removal of the wooden scaffolding
Close the rib horns. Put the ribs in a bag. The foot steering system and the seats and backrests are also packed in the frame pockets.

WOODEN SCAFFOLDING PARTS / PRODUCTION PROCESS
The wood materials used for the wooden scaffolding are air-dried white ash as solid wood and specially glued birch plywood of premium quality.
After the mechanical cutting of the wooden scaffolding parts they are
stamped and then subjected to a triple dip coating.
The drying time after each dip is 24 hours. This intensive paint protection of the high-quality three-layer dipping paint normally lasts for the life of the boat.
The scaffolding parts are then pre-drilled at the fitting positions using multi-spindle automatic machines and in the last manual operation the fittings are fitted by riveting or screwing.

PROCUREMENT OF INDIVIDUAL PARTS FROM THE SCAFFOLDING.
Scaffolding parts are available separately. Please refer to the price list of your dealer for prices. Entire boat scaffolds (without skin) are not sold individually.

All boats and accessories come with a certified 5-year warranty
A warranty service is also offered by all KLEPPER authorized dealers worldwide. The warranty on new boats begins with the date of purchase. The warranty card filled out by the dealer must be sent in, along with a copy of the invoice. The license number is located on the back of the boomerang. A production date can also be found on the boat skin.
If you have lost the warranty card, please contact the dealer who has a copy of the warranty card.
We have always strived to provide you with the best possible warranty service
because we want you to be satisfied with your KLEPPER folding boat.
At last you have bought the "Mercedes" of folding boats.
The warranty for repairs is 6 months.
A guarantee is provided for material defects or production faults.
We cannot guarantee any damage caused by incorrect handling.

The Klepper boats have an enormously long life span: The wooden frame lasts for approx.
30 years and longer, while the boat skin lasts about 20 years. The prerequisite for a long life span is proper use, storage and care.

In October 1995 our company was completely burn down. Everything was destroyed. And it was only with considerable financial expenditure the production could be rebuilt. Questions about old boat models can therefore no longer be answered and spare parts for old models are sadly no longer available.

Serves to protect the boat skin - but only on extreme trips. The boat skin is hard wearing even without keel strips.
If you want to retrofit keel strips (especially on older boats),
you should always sent the skin in to check whether it is possible to attach the keel strips permanently, or whether the condition of the skin has already too far gone so that permanent adhesion is no longer possible. You will have to pay for the delivery of the skin to us and also when we send the skin back to you (plus additional packaging charges) The same applies to the renewal of the stem. These can also be fitted by the customer.
You can also be retrofit keel strips yourself. To do this, the boat skin must be roughened, then cleaned with benzene and then the rubber solution applied several times (2 - 3 times).
To prevent the formation of air bubbles, the applied keel strip must be well
rubbed down and, possibly eliminate possible air bubbles. Then let the glued joint rest for approx. 10 - 12 hours and do not load it, 24 hours would be optimal resting time!
